Principle work of directional control valves
Directional control valves are devices that control hydraulic flows in a hydraulic system by external influence. Directional control valves control the movement of the output link of the hydraulic drive by directing (distributing) the flow of the working fluid.
Types of directional control valves on the lock-controlling elements:
- spool valves — easy to manufacture, compact, characterized by high reliability, are used at significantly high pressure;
- crane valves — the locking element is made in the form of a cylindrical, conical, ball plug, as an option, in the form of a flat slewing crane;
- valve distributors — in comparison with spools they have large dimensions and weight, provide good tightness, while the shut-off element is made in the form of a ball or conical valve;
- "Nozzle-damper" — the principle of constructing hydraulic pressure dividers is applied;
- Inkjet valves — characterized by low sensitivity to contamination of the working fluid, due to the lack of moving parts in them.
Directional control valves application
Very often directional control valves are used in hydraulic systems of automobile cranes, excavators, stationary machines, presses, in road-building and agricultural machinery (one of the most popular are directional control valves for tractors, excavators).
There are lots of types of directional control valves:
- with electromagnetic;
- hydraulic;
- manual;
- pneumatic control;
- cartridge;
- with position sensors;
- explosion proof;
- with automatic switching
Also directional control valves with combined type of controls are presented.
