Pneumatic directional valves
Pneumatic directional valves
Pneumatic directional valve – it is a valve that works inside the pneumatic system and operates with gas or compressed air. It is used to control flows in order to distribute and direct their movement using shut-off and control elements.
The pneumatic directional valve acts as a kind of conductor from the source, which can be a compressor, to the actuator – for example, a pneumatic actuator.
What are directional valves?
The units are set in motion by means of signals, namely:
- mechanical;
- electromagnetic;
- pneumatic
Three types can be distinguished:
- Mechanical directional valves are started by mechanical force – for example, a lever.
- Electromagnetic is controlled by a solenoid, as well as coils. Current supply – from an external source to coils that drive the valve stem under the influence of magnetic fields.
- The pneumatic type devices operate with compressed air. Under specific conditions, their work depends on its receipt or absence.
There is also a division according to the design principle into valve and spool:
- Valves required for discrete flow control and provide a tight seal between lines. This type is well suited for small systems to perform simple tasks.
- Spools are essential for directing flow in complex operations. Its design is intended for use in sections with a complex scheme and a significant flow rate.
